When Andre Herzog began his steel and building materials warehouse in 1966, he wanted to offer Canberra’s building industry quality products and outstanding service.
Over the next six decades, as the building sector in the ACT grew, so did the need for construction industry raw materials, and more specifically, steel. Andre soon saw the possibilities and adjusted his core product offering.
When Philip Herzog came on board, he shared his father’s vision, and has continued his strong service ethic, operating two warehouses, with over 10,000 square metres of space, displaying and storing ready made steel products, and with machinery to alter or fabricate for particular specification.
The result is Canberra’s largest source of steel building materials serving both the north and south of the city, with delivery trucks waiting to transport your purchase to the site of your choosing, within a timeframe to suit your project.

Herzog Steel operates from two locations, with our Mitchell warehouse serving areas north of the CBD and our Fyshwick warehouse in the south. We have a broad range of metal items available sourced from Australian Manufacturers.
Our warehouses stock large quantities of commonly used steel products to make it easier to provide to customers on the spot. If we do not have any item in stock, we will be able to order them. Take a look at our online product list to see our extensive range.
If you are not sure what size material you are after, you are most welcome to browse our stock items. And for those small jobs requiring a small item, we probably have an offcut that does the job perfectly. We do try to minimise the amount of offcuts we generate during our fabrication process but we keep any to reduce our wastage.
